General Questions
What kind of tours do you offer?
We offer small-group outdoor adventure tours around Southern Vancouver Island that combine activities like hiking, paddleboarding, sightseeing, local food stops, and hidden gems you won’t want to miss.
How many people are on each tour?
Group sizes are intentionally limited so the experience feels personal, relaxed, and flexible. Each tour has a maximum of 6 guests and 2 guides. There is a 2-guest minimum requirement for the tour to run.
Who are your tours best suited for?
Our tours are designed for adventurous travellers, families, couples, friend groups, solo travellers, and locals wanting to explore Vancouver Island in a unique way.
Are your tours family friendly?
Our tours are suited for active adventurers, kids and teens included. The recommended age of 10 and up assures that everyone can keep up with our busy day. If you’re unsure which tour would work best for your family, reach out anytime – we’re happy to help recommend an experience based on your group’s ages, comfort levels, and adventure styles.
Do I need experience for the paddleboarding tours?
Nope! Beginners are welcome. We have a Paddle Canada Certified Paddleboard Instructor to provide basic instruction, safety guidance, and support throughout the experience.
Booking and Payments
How do I book a tour?
You can book directly through our website booking calendar. Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details you need.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during the busy summer months. With only 6 spots available per tour, they may fill up fast!
We require at least 24 hours’ notice so we can have everything prepared properly for your tour.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards and other secure online payment options through our booking system
Can I book a private tour?
Yes! We offer private and custom tours for families, friend groups, corporate outings, celebrations, and special occasions. Reach out with your ideas and we’ll come up with an epic day! Pricing will vary depending on itinerary.
Transportation
What time do tours start and how long are they?
A full day begins at approximately 8:30am and we will aim to have you back to your pick-up location by 5:30pm. Pick up and drop off times may vary due to traffic, weather, or other circumstances.
Where are the pickup locations?
We will pick you up at Rhino Coffee in the Uptown Shopping Centre (3450 Uptown Blvd. Victoria BC). Go early and fill up on a delicious breakfast to start your day or grab a coffee and muffin to go before we hit the road.
Can you pick up somewhere else?
You can always ask! Depending on our itinerary for the day, we’ll do our best to accommodate custom pick-up requests when possible.
Safety and Fitness
What fitness level is required?
Our tours are active. The hiking trails can be strenuous and muddy in spots. A moderate fitness level is required.
Do you provide lifejackets?
Yes, all required safety equipment, including lifejackets/PFDs, is included.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We embrace the West Coast weather. But safety always comes first. Tours may be adjusted, rescheduled, or cancelled due to unsafe weather or water conditions.
Are your guides certified?
Yes. Our guides maintain appropriate first aid certifications. They carry first aid supplies and emergency communication devices at all times.
We have a Paddle Canada Certified Paddleboard Instructor for all guided paddleboard excursions.
Cancellation and Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
Tours may be cancelled due to severe weather, unsafe conditions, or insufficient bookings. Please see our full cancellation policy page for more details.
What happens if I’m late?
Because tours operate on a schedule, we may not be able to delay departures. Please arrive early at your pickup location.
What to Bring
What should I bring on the tour?
We recommend bringing a small backpack with the following:
- Hiking shoes or sturdy footwear — closed-toe shoes are a must
- Comfortable clothing
- Layers for changing weather
- A light rain jacket
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Hat and sunglasses
- Camera or phone for photos
- Any medication you may require
For paddleboarding tours, please bring all of the above, plus:
- Swimsuit and towel
- A change of clothes — you never know!
- Water shoes, sandals, or Crocs
Do I need my own paddleboard or gear?
No – we provide all required paddleboarding equipment.
Are meals included?
It depends on the tour.
For the Still Waters, Deep Roots, Epic Views Tour, the following is included:
Lunch, snacks, and a tasting flight at Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic tasting options are available
For the West Coast Wonders Tour, the following is included:
A light snack
Lunch at Shirley Delicious, as well as beverages and food at Sooke Oceanside Brewery and Grilled to the Mac Food Truck, are not included in the tour price. Please be sure to bring a form of payment for these stops.
Can I bring snacks or drinks?
Absolutely. You’re always welcome to bring extra food and water.
Experience Questions
Will we see wildlife?
We often encounter wildlife such as seals, sea lions, eagles, herons, otters and deer. Though nature is unpredictable and sightings can’t be guaranteed.
What about bears, cougars, and wildlife safety?
Vancouver Island is home to incredible wildlife, including black bears and cougars, though sightings are uncommon on tours. We follow safe outdoor practices while hiking, including group awareness, respecting wildlife space, and avoiding risky areas or situations.
